Wedding photo sharing by face recognition
An Indian wedding often produces 3,000–8,000 photos across haldi, mehendi, sangeet, the wedding and the reception. Every guest wants the handful they're in, and nobody wants to scroll a 5,000-photo Drive folder to find them. Face recognition fixes that: a guest takes one selfie and gets back every photo they appear in.
The problem with sharing the whole folder
Most photographers deliver a Google Drive link and the WhatsApp messages start: "Bhaiya, can you send the ones with me?", "Where are the sangeet photos of our family?" Guests give up scrolling, and the photographer ends up hand-picking photos for relatives for weeks.
Sharing the folder also shows every guest every photo, including ones of other families. Delivering by face means each guest sees only what they need: the photos they're in.
How it works at a wedding
- Put the photos in one Google Drive folder. Subfolders per function (haldi, sangeet, reception) are fine; Facely reads them all. Set the folder to "Anyone with the link can view".
- Create the event on Facely. Paste the folder link, add your studio's name, logo and Instagram if you like, and pay ₹999. Indexing starts straight away.
- Share the QR card. You get a printable QR code and a guest link. Guests can start searching within minutes while the rest is indexed. Faces are processed in the background at about 2–5 seconds a photo.
- Guests scan, take a selfie, and get their photos. No app, no sign-up. It works in the phone's browser, and they can view full quality, save single photos, download them all as a zip, or share to WhatsApp.
Where to put the QR code
- The reception and dinner tables: small table cards next to the menu. This is when guests have time and their phones out.
- An entry or photo-booth standee for the last function, so people scan while they wait.
- The families' WhatsApp groups: send the guest link after the event; relatives who couldn't attend every function find themselves too.
- The thank-you message from the couple, so the link reaches everyone on the guest list.
What guests see
A simple page with your studio's name and logo, a button to take or upload a selfie, and a short note that the selfie is used only for that search and then deleted. Seconds later they see a grid of their photos. Group shots they'd never have found by scrolling are usually the ones they're happiest to get.
Why photographers use it
- Fewer follow-up requests: guests serve themselves instead of messaging you.
- Your brand in front of every guest: your logo and Instagram sit on the QR card and on every guest's photo page, and your event page shows how many guests tapped through to your Instagram, website or WhatsApp. A wedding guest list is full of people who'll book a photographer soon.
- Nothing to re-upload: it works on the Drive folder you already deliver, at full quality, straight from your Drive.
- One flat price: ₹999 per event, up to 10,000 photos, unlimited guests and searches.
Privacy for the families
The couple's photos never leave your Google Drive. Facely keeps small preview thumbnails and a face index for 60 days so guests can search, then deletes them automatically. A guest's selfie is used once for their search and deleted immediately. More detail: how face search works and our privacy policy.
Common questions
Can one event cover all the functions?
Yes. Put each function in its own subfolder inside one Drive folder; one event covers up to 10,000 photos in total.
How long until guests can search?
Within minutes of starting. The full set takes about 2–5 seconds a photo, so a 3,000-photo wedding is complete in roughly 2–4 hours, and searches return more photos as indexing finishes.
Do guests need to install anything?
No. They scan the QR code and use the page in their phone's browser.
